Austin PBS’ new media center finds a home in the ACC

Austin Community College (ACC) has a new partnership with Austin PBS, and it centers around a new state-of-the-art media center located on ACC’s Highland campus.

Comes with a price tag of $55 million, the 45,000 square foot facility will include modern television studios, editing rooms, master control rooms, community spaces and more, all intended to strengthen education , society, democracy and cultural health. The Austin Media Center will also provide ACC with innovative teaching space, flexible training labs, business incubation spaces and nonprofit resources.

Additionally, the non-profit public broadcaster has established the Moving Forward Internship Program, which will provide at least 15 paid internships per year to ACC students. For those pursuing degrees in digital and broadcast media, information technology, finance/accounting, and communications, this means valuable hands-on experience they might not otherwise have access to.

“Our move to the ACC Highland campus will allow us to be more accessible and responsive to our diverse and changing Central Texas community,” an Austin PBS spokesperson said. “We strive to be a bridge, connecting disparate groups by increasing communication and meeting people where they are.”

While the exact date of the move is yet to be determined, the resort says we can plan for it to open by 2022. Until then, get more updates by visiting
