The Main Media Center (MWC) for the Beijing Winter Olympics was completed on Tuesday and is ready for use for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the construction headquarters of the major projects announced on Tuesday. from Beijing.
The MMC comprises the Main Press Center (MPC) and the International Broadcasting Center (IBC), also the headquarters of the global print media and broadcasters of all rights. There will be around 3,000 registered journalists and 12,000 broadcasters in Beijing for the Games.
The main building of the second phase project of the China National Convention Center, where the MMC is located, is shaped like a huge mythical bird, emphasizing the design concept of a harmonious coexistence between architecture and nature.
The building highlights the concept of Green Olympics; by making full use of renewable energies, it achieves good energy efficiency and reduced emissions.
After the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Paralympic Winter Games, construction of the second phase of the convention center project will continue and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
When completed, the main project building and its adjoining hotels, office buildings and commercial buildings will form an exhibition complex with a total area of over 1.3 million square meters with its adjacent China National Convention Center. , phase I, meeting the needs of high-end government activities, large-scale international trade and trade exhibition services.
