The IBC Conference (September 9-10) for conference pass holders leads the way with more than 20 hours of research, strategy talks, presentations, panel discussions and technical papers over two days and two stages. Screenings take place at the Forum Theater and in room E102.

IBC2022 Conference Speakers

Peter White, CEO, IABM, who will present the findings of the IABM 2022 State of the Industry Report.

Dave Duvall, Chief Information Officer, Warner Bros. Discovery, who will be interviewed by Caretta Research co-founder Rob Ambrose on how two media giants come together from a technical perspective.

Deep Bagchee, Chief Product Officer, ITV, who will explain how Britain’s largest commercial broadcaster plans to boost streaming through a significant investment in content, a revamped product and live and FAST channels.

Eddie Drake, Chief Technology Officer, Marvel Studios, who will be on a panel to talk about MovieLabs’ “2030 Vision” and content security, software-defined workflows, cloud interoperability and other shortcomings that need to be resolved in order to achieve it.

Robert Gelick, Chief Product Officer, Paramount, who will weigh in on the growth and success of FAST Channels.

Bill Baggelaar, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Michael Wise, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Universal Pictures, joining a panel giving the studio’s perspective on content creation and MovieLabs “2030 Vision”.

Andrew Gower, Head of Immersive Content Research - BT

Andrew Gower, Head of Immersive Content Research, BT, who will discuss facial movement synthesis research for the Metaverse, which can be overlaid on a realistic or chosen “face”.

Kiyoshi Kurihara, Research Engineer, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), who will talk about a new approach to text-to-speech conversion that can directly relate text symbols to phonemes. The result is truly human speech that is used to replace a human news anchor.

IBC2022 Changemakers and other speakers

The conference isn’t the only place to hear from the most innovative thinkers in broadcast, media and entertainment. Free sessions are taking place throughout IBC2022 at the Showcase Theater (Hall 12), Innovation Stage (Hall 2) and Content Everywhere Stage (Hall 5).

New for 2022 is Changemakers, a series of free sessions taking place at the Forum Theater and in room E102 from September 11-12.

Eirik Nakken, Chief Technology Officer, NEP Norway, who will discuss the benefits of IP technology for remote live production.

Rick Young, SVP, Global Products, LTN, who will reveal how to seamlessly manage and connect public cloud and on-premises network connections.

Katrina King, Content Production, Media and Entertainment - Amazon Web Services (AWS)

John Canning, AMD, will talk about the “5G and the Arena of the Future for XR Events” accelerator project, including multi-site and multiplayer AR techno-sports and fan hyper-personalization with 3D advertising using real-time immersive technologies, and OTT platforms.

Maria Virtudes Briz, Head of Product Development, Telefonica, who will explain how Telefonica used ContentWise Data Insights to help create a data-driven approach to content discovery and recommendation.

Ian Cockett, GVP Engineering & Technology, Warner Bros. Discovery, will explain how Warner Bros. Discovery uses GV AMPP to produce remote live events for multiple audiences in multiple languages.
