Lessig Joins Sun Prairie Media Center Staff | New
The Sun Prairie Media Center recently welcomed Colin Lessig, its new full-time production manager. Lessig joined SPMC after teaching in the humanities department at UW-Platteville (UWP) for almost a decade. There he mainly taught composition in English, but occasionally taught introduction to cinema and introduction to literature.
A native of Maryland, Lessig studied English and Communications with a specialization in Film at the University of Elon, North Carolina. As a student he volunteered at the college radio station (where he hosted a show called “The Midnight Trip”), took numerous media production courses, and interned during the summers at the University of Montreal. Maryland Public Television and for a local production company.
Lessig worked in media production until his graduate studies took him to Florida State University, where he studied creative writing. After graduation, he spent a few years at the Florida Center for Reading Research as a writer and researcher before moving to Wisconsin to take up his position at UWP. While he enjoys teaching and always will, the desire to return to media production drew Lessig to the opportunity to be a production manager at SPMC.
âI am very excited and honored to be a part of SPMC, and look forward to working with the talented staff and fantastic volunteers,â said Lessig. âEveryone has already made me feel at home here at SPMC and in the community. He will be primarily connected to the radio station, focusing on programming and training 103.5 The Sun. He will also be involved in teaching KIDS-4 crews from the fall.
The SPMC thrives on the work of its volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved with 103.5 The Sun, KSUN, or KIDS-4, the Media Center is always looking for suggestions for future guests, future shows, and opportunities for residents to participate in local media.
