New media library open to students and staff of Fayetteville-Manlius high school
MANLIUS, NY (WSYR-TV) – After years of planning, the Fayetteville-Manlius High School Library Multimedia Center is open to students. It is an ultramodern facility divided into an academic space and a social space.
The idea was born years ago and is now coming to life with the help of students, administration and teachers. Many felt the old facility was obsolete and this upgrade now includes conference rooms, manufacturing space, and even a career center. A place the manager says the kids loved from the moment it opened in October.
âI think they’ve really embraced the facility in part too, there’s a little social space, a cafe where they can bring their lunches or snacks and study. The Library Media Center is wireless and there are plenty of hook-up areas where they can charge their cell phones. So they just see it as a space that fits their needs, âsaid Dr. Craig Tice, District Superintendent of Fayetteville-Manlius.
âThis was really designed for the long haul so I think a lot of thinking has gone into making sure it will continue to adapt to the ways that children continue to change in the way they learn and learn. teach. . We’re now a lot more focused on project-based learning, it’s a lot more collaborative, âsaid Mary Patroulis, high school library media specialist.
The whole project is part of a referendum passed in 2017, where the community decided to invest $ 45 million in rebuilding infrastructure within the school district.
