SoMD native Mariel Sáez appointed director of broadcast media for Biden



Mechanicsville, MD- Mariel Sáez, raised in southern Maryland and a 2010 graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland (economics) has been appointed director of broadcast media for the new Joe Biden administration. Sáez was deputy director of communications for the presidential nomination committee and director of women’s media for the Biden-Harris campaign.

For more than a decade, Sáez worked for House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer, most recently serving as Deputy Director of Communications. In this role, she communicates the legislative timetable for the House and helps develop and coordinate the messaging strategy for the House Democrats’ agenda. Sáez has also served as National Press Secretary, Maryland Press Secretary, and Press and Research Assistant for Leader Hoyer.

“As Assistant Director of Communications, her advice and guidance has been invaluable to me. She is well respected by the press and the House Democratic Caucus has benefited from her hard work, good judgment and skills, ”Hoyer said in a released statement.

“While I am sad to see her leave our team, I congratulate her on being named the next White House Broadcast Media Director, helping President-elect Biden share his vision and accomplishments with the American people. has no doubt that she will bring her talent, dedication and deep experience to this role.

“As the new administration takes office, it will need to get to work to begin delivering on its promises to build better after the pandemic while effectively communicating to the American people how we must unite as a nation in the face of this challenge and the overcome together.
