During the week of October 8-12, the Media Center hosted an art exhibition featuring works by Salvador Dali, a Spanish surrealist painter. According to media scholar Andrea Lamphier, Dali’s art has been selected to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The exhibition, planned by media specialists and the Department of World Languages, encouraged students to explore Hispanic art and analyze works of art through various activities. Throughout the week, teachers brought their classes to the Media Center to participate in the activities.

Among the paintings on display in the Media Center were “The Persistence of Memory”, which depicts the relativity of space and time, and “Galatea of the Spheres”, which demonstrates Dali’s passion for science and the disintegration of l ‘atom. The exhibition also showed videos about Dali and how to analyze art forms.

Lamphier hopes the exhibition gave students the experience of seeing art in a museum-like setting. “We want students to stand in front of reproductions of art, understand its history, and use the skills to understand how to view art critically,” she said.
